– Summary –

The Kawai region is a mountain village nestled in the Kitakami mountain range, and the former Kawai Village has been promoting the revitalization of the village through folk performing arts. The Kawai Local Folk Performing Arts Festival has been held 45 times, and some of the best folk performing arts are still found in Kawai today. We hope you will enjoy the fascinating folk performing arts such as Kagura, which is in the same lineage as the UNESCO World Intangible Heritage “Hayachine Kagura,” sword dances from the Morioka area, and lion dances from the Tono area.
