【Outline of the production】
Geinoh groups and artists from Sanriku, Indonesia, and Taiwan will collaborate to create and perform a stage production, “Kaminaga-hime”, based on a Sanriku folk tale.
This is an international co-production that fuses traditional Geinoh and contemporary stage expression, using the bamboo flute as a common language, and incorporating contemporary issues such as disasters, marine debris, declining birthrates, and cultural transmission into the story.
The creative process and performance will be filmed and broadcast both domestically and internationally.

(End of performance) Showcase (Work in Progress)
Date: October 12, 2025 (Sun) 14:00-16:00
Venue: The Miracle Pine Tree Hall(Rikuzentakata Citizen’s Cultural Center)
Fee: 1,000 yen
[Background of the work]
In 2021, during the pamdemic, Geinoh groups/contemporary artists from Sanriku, Indonesia, and Cambodia exchanged via online to create a stage piece, “TKaminaga-hime”.
This work was recorded and streamed as a “Tokyo 2020 NIPPON Festival Co-sponsored Program” and was seen by many people. In the 2025 fiscal year, new countries and members will come together, and through on-site exchange and residency-based creation, the project will culminate in a new stage production.
Reference video (version distributed in 2021)
“Kaminaga-hime” (full length) created by online recording in 2021 and streamed on YouTube.

Omiya Kagura Preservation Society
The Omiya Kagura is a yamabushi kagura brought by Eifuku-in, a yamabushi belonging to Haguro school and an administrator of Omiya Shrine at that time, in 1337. With the shishigashira which is given the spirit from Omiya Shrine in Raga, Tanohata village, the kagura is the dance of prayer for well-being, such as warding off evil spirits, fire safety, sound health, security of family, bountiful harvest, rich haul or good business. The characteristic of this kagura is in its vigorous and dynamic way of dancing in the triple meter.
