Nearby sightseeing spots’ Information
During the Yamada Fall Festival, general stores and tourist activities are uncertain to be open (due to the large number of people participating in the festival). We recommend renting a bicycle or other means to tour the beautiful Yamada Bay, or taking a break at Roadside Station. In addition, since accommodations in Yamada Town are limited, we recommend that you also look for lodging in the neighboring cities of Miyako, Ostuchi, and Kamaishi.

Yamada Bay
Yamada Bay is as calm as a lake due to its topography, where the entrance to the bay is squeezed like a drawstring bag. Rafts for cultivating local specialties such as oysters, sea squirts, and scallops are scattered across the bay, creating a uniquely Yamada landscape where human activity and nature exist in beautiful harmony. In the surrounding area (Funakoshi Peninsula), there is the Whale and Sea Science Museum and the Michinoku Sea Breeze Trail, where you can enjoy cycling and strolling while admiring the scenery. Get some snacks and tourist information at Roadside Station Funakoshi Igubesu and head out!

Roadside Station Yamada Oisuta

The nickname “Oisuta” for this Roadside Station Yamada is derived from the town’s specialty, oysters (oyster), and the word “Oideyo” meaning “come on over.
Roadside Station Yamada is where you can get fresh seafood from Yamada town and other local delicacies. Seafood bowls and sushi are also available at the restaurant on the site.
