【Sanriku Festival】 Yamada Autumn Festival 2024.9.14(Sat)-16(Mon)

The whole town is so excited about this festival that the whole year of Yamada Town revolves around it. During the three days of the festival, the Yamada Hachiman Shrine and Osugi Shrine hold their annual festivals, and the parade of the portable shrines are enlivened by a variety of Geinoh. A special stage will be set up in Central Park near Rikuchu Yamada Station, where local and international Geinoh will be performing.

The theme of this natural science museum is to learn about the Sanriku Sea and its rich natural environment through whales. The museum’s expansive displays and the world’s largest whale skeletal specimen at 17.6 meters will overwhelm you.

Roadside Station YAMADA OISUTA

The nickname of the roadside station, “Oisuta,” is derived from the town’s specialty, oysters (oyster), and the word “oideyo” meaning “come on”.
The roadside station is filled with fresh seafood from Yamada and other local delicacies. Kaisendon (seafood bowls) and sushi are also available at the museum’s restaurant.
