At the farthest end of Taki Kannon-do Cave, there is Amano-Iwato Falls, one of the largest waterfalls in a cave in Japan, with a drop of 29 meters. Currently, the cave is open to the public only 880 meters from the entrance of Amano-Iwato Falls, but the cave continues on, and two waterfalls and a deep underground lake with an invisible bottom have been discovered.
(The name “Amano-Iwato Waterfalls” was given by the female poet Yanagihara Hakuren in 1958, who was impressed by the resemblance of the waterfall hidden deep in the cave to the god Amaterasu of Japanese mythology.)

Because of its unique atmosphere, it was used as a location for horror film “The Village of Eight Gravestones” in 1977, where an important scene that unravels the story was filmed.
