In the Iwaizumi-Omoto area, traditional folk performing arts such as Nanatsu-mai and Shichitou-mai dances, along with salmon fishing, are deeply rooted in the local culture.
The community holds events where participants can try catching salmon by hand and enjoy freshly prepared salmon soup, praying for the return of salmon to the Sanriku coast.
The dynamic performances of Shichitou-mai and Nanatsu-mai, dedicated to wishes for good harvests, abundant catches, and the peace of the community, never fail to move those who watch them.
