Miyako City, the largest city in the Sanriku region, is a vast natural area with a variety of folk performing arts and cultures. It is the key intersection for road transportation in Sanriku, connecting the coast and inland, and is also the hub of the Sanriku Railway, which runs along the Sanriku coastline.

Theater Project Miyako will present a series of events on the theme of Sanriku in the 10 years since the earthquake. On Saturday, March 5, three photographers who visited Sanriku will have a panel discussion titled “Sanriku by Three Photographers” with a screening of “Inochi Tendenko,” a musical produced after the disaster. On Sunday, March 6, the Miyako Folk Performing Arts Festival will be held.
