Riki Takeda engages in a project to inherit the rokusai nembutsu, an old traditional ritual in Kutsuki Furuya community, Shiga prefecture. Based on his observation of the structures of folk performing arts, Takeda’s performance works integrate string phone, communication with a policeman, or takoyaki (octopus dumplings) as the material. His concept is to invite the audience to speculate on social issues, considering reciprocal relationship between folk performing arts and contemporary arts. Takeda was selected as a Creative Children Fellow by the Arts Commission Yokohama in 2016 and 2017.
